The Lincoln Railsplitters started the month of May on a good note, tallying four wins for the week.

Monday, May 1, 2023

Three runs scored in the top of the third inning was enough for the Railsplitters to get a 3-2 win over the Champaign Central Maroons.

Trey Schilling and Jarrett Evers had RBI singles to highlight the third inning scoring. Colbie Glenn also scored a run on an error committed by the Maroons.

Carson Fuiten picked up the win over the Maroons. Fuiten tossed six and one-third innings, allowing two runs on eight hits. He struck out two batters.

Jaden Leadley pitched the seventh inning, striking out one batter.

At the plate, Leadley was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Jarrett Evers was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Brenden Wurth, Drew Hayes and Trey Schilling also added hits for the Railsplitters.

The bats were hot in Beardstown on this gorgeous afternoon as the Railsplitters took down the Tigers 10-3.

Lincoln pounded out 15 hits versus the Tigers.

The Railsplitters plated two runs in the first inning. The first two batters of the game reached on singles and then Colbie Glenn scored as Michael Lucas was caught stealing second base. After a single by Brenden Wurth, Jarrett Evers doubled him home with the second run of the game.

Beardstown took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Lincoln earned the lead in the top of the third inning, again with the leadoff batters getting on base via base hits. A ground out by Wurth plated the tying run and a single by Evers put Lincoln on top 4-3.

In the top of the fourth inning, Lincoln saw three more runs cross home plate, all with two outs in the inning. Evers tallied a run-scoring single and Schilling crushed a two-run double to center that put the Railsplitters up 7-3.

The Railsplitters loaded the bases in the top of the sixth inning and it was Drew Hayes with the solid swing to score Evers and Schilling. Colbie Glenn then followed with a run-scoring double and Lincoln was in a good position with a 10-3 lead.

Lincoln had no difficulty recording the final six outs of the game and the 10-3 win was in the books.

Jaden Leadley was the winner in this one. He worked four innings, allowing six hits and three runs. He struck out one batter.

Colbie Glenn pitched three innings in relief, allowing one hit and striking out four batters.

Jarrett Evers was a hitting machine for Lincoln versus Beardstown. Evers was 4-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Colbie Glenn was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Michael Lucas and Brenden Wurth each had two hits.

Jaden Leadley, Trey Schilling, Wyatt Mammen and Drew Hayes each had hits as well.

Lincoln showed the MacArthur Generals who was in charge with a 17-0 victory that featured a no-hitter by two of the Railsplitters pitchers.

Jaron Woods and Noah Rachall combined for the no-hitter on the mound for the Railsplitters.

Woods started the game and tossed three innings. He recorded three strikeouts and three walks.

Rachall pitched the final inning of the four-inning affair and he shut down the Generals and recorded one strikeout.

Lincoln plated five runs in the first inning, getting the first two runs thanks to two walks and an error. Jarrett Evers added an RBI groundout and Trey Schilling smacked an RBI single to account for two more runs. Wyatt Mammen doubled in the final run of the inning to give Lincoln a 5-0 advantage.

Evers drove in a run in the top of the second inning on a fielder’s choice and Lincoln was on top 6-0.

Ten runs crossed the plate for Lincoln in the third inning and the game was busted wide open. Michael Lucas, Jaden Leadley and Brenden Wurth each hit consecutive run-scoring doubles for Lincoln in this inning. After a run-scoring single by Schilling, the Railsplitters lead was 14-0 and the Generals were yet to record an out in the inning. Drew Hayes drove in Schilling to make the score 15-0. Before the Generals could retire the Railsplitters in the inning, a bases loaded hit by pitch of Leadley allowed Hayes to trot home and the lead was 16-0.

Hayes added an RBI double in the top of the fourth inning and the score was set at 17-0.

Noah Nachall retired the side in the fourth inning for Lincoln and the 17-0 victory was in the books.

The Railsplitters bats pounded out 11 hits versus the Generals.

Michael Lucas was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs.

Trey Schilling was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Wyatt Mammen was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Drew Hayes was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Jaden Leadley and Brenden Wurth each doubled to round out the offense for Lincoln.

Saturday, May 6, 2023

The Railsplitters played at Heyworth on Saturday and came from behind late to win 7-5 over the Hornets.

Lincoln took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Trey Schilling and an RBI single by Wyatt Mammen.

The Hornets stole the lead in the bottom of the second inning, jumping in front 3-2.

Heyworth added to the lead in the bottom of the third inning, scoring a run on a wild pitch.

In the top of the sixth inning the Railsplitters plated three runs. Drew Hayes’ RBI single scored Schilling and then Colbie Glenn added a double to left that scored two runs. Lincoln was now on top 5-4.

The Railsplitters were able to add a couple insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning. Wes Tedrick crossed home plate after a wild pitch and Schilling drove in the final Lincoln run on a ground ball hit to the shortstop.

Colbie Glenn allowed one run in the seventh inning, but fielded a pop out for the last out of the game.

Lincoln holds on and wins by a final score of 7-5.

Colbie Glenn earned the win in relief. He worked the final inning and two-thirds, allowing two hits and one run. He struck out two batters.

Brenden Wurth started the game for Lincoln. He worked two and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and four runs.

Wyatt Mammen pitched the middle two and two-thirds innings, allowing two walks and recording five strikeouts. The rest of his stat line was all zeros.

At the plate, Mammen was 3-for-4 for Lincoln.

Jarrett Evers was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Colbie Glenn, Michael Lucas, Brenden Wurth, Wes Tedrick, Trey Schilling and Drew Hayes also recorded hits for Lincoln, who tallied 11 hits on the afternoon versus the Hornets.

The Railsplitters will face Rantoul, Pleasant Plains, Auburn and Glenwood this week.
