The
Lincoln Railsplitters were riding a seven-game winning streak during
the month of May before the Glenwood Titans got the best of the
Railsplitters to end the streak on Friday.

The Railsplitters kicked off the week with a 14-5 win over the
Rantoul Eagles.
Lincoln scored three runs in the top of the first inning on a home
run by Jaden Leadley. Leadley’s three-run blast came with Colbie
Glenn and Michael Lucas on base.
The Eagles tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the first.
Lincoln plated four runs in the top of the third inning, all with
two outs. A bases-loaded walk to Carson Fuiten put the Railsplitters
up 4-3. Wyatt Mammen also scored on a wild pitch before Glenn
brought the other two baserunners home on a line drive to right
field.
The Eagles scored twice in the bottom of the third inning to make
the game tight, 7-5 the score.
Drew Hayes added a two-run single in the top of the sixth inning
that stretched the Railsplitters lead to 9-5.
Lincoln would tally on five more runs in the top of the seventh
inning. Brenden Wurth, Leadley and Hayes each had run-scoring
singles to highlight the big inning. The Railsplitters also took
advantage of an error and a hit by pitch to score runs.
The Railsplitters won by a final score of 14-5.
Carson Fuiten picked up the win for Lincoln. Getting the start on
the mound, Fuiten worked three innings, allowing seven hits and five
runs. He struck out four batters and walked one.
Colbie Glenn worked the final four innings, allowing two hits. He
struck out six batters and walked one.
Glenn, Leadley, Wurth and Hayes led the offense for the
Railsplitters, who had 12 hits off Eagles pitching.
Glenn was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Hayes was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored.
Leadley was 2-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
Wurth was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI.
Trey Schilling and Jarrett Evers also had hits for Lincoln.
Wednesday, May 10, 2023
Lincoln picked up a nice win at Pleasant Plains, defeating the
Cardinals 6-4.
Jarrett Evers slugged a two-run double in the top of the first
inning to put the Railsplitters in front 2-0.
Brenden Wurth added an RBI single in the top of the third to
increase the lead to 3-0.
Trey Schilling’s leadoff double in the top of the fourth inning
started the Railsplitters off on a good note. Schilling would score
on a single by Wes Tedrick and Lincoln was up 4-0. In the same
inning, Michael Lucas doubled to left field and the Railsplitters
scored two more runs. Lincoln was on top 6-0 heading into the final
at-bat for the Cardinals.
Pleasant Plains threatened the lead by scoring four runs in the
bottom of the seventh inning, but Leadley struck out the last batter
with a runner on second base to end the game. Lincoln picked up the
6-4 win over the Cardinals.
Wyatt Mammen earned the win on the mound. He tossed six and
two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on six hits. He walked one
batter and struck out eleven.
Jaden Leadley pitched the final one-third of an inning, getting one
strikeout to end the game.
Colbie Glenn and Brenden Wurth continue their hot hitting for
Lincoln.
Glenn was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Wurth was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Michael Lucas, Jarrett Evers, Trey Schilling, Wyatt Mammen and Wes
Tedrick also had hits for the Railsplitters.

The Railsplitters defeated the Auburn Trojans 6-2 on Senior Night as
Jaron Woods pitched a gem of a ballgame for Lincoln.
Lincoln scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning, all
with two outs. The Railsplitters put together a string of hits
consecutively from Trey Schilling, Wyatt Mammen, Jacob Langley, Drew
Hayes and Colbie Glenn. Langley drove in the first run of the game.
Hayes slugged a two-run double to center field and Glenn followed
with a run-scoring double to left field.
The Railsplitters carried a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth
inning.
Schilling led off the Railsplitters sixth inning with a home run
over the left field fence to make the score 5-0. Glenn added an RBI
groundout and the lead was 6-0.

Auburn was a threat to score in the top of the seventh inning. After
the Trojans scored two runs off Noah Rachall, Lincoln turned to
Jaden Leadley to end the game. Leadley got out of a jam with a
double play ball and then struck out the final batter of the game to
secure the 6-2 win for Lincoln.
Jaron Woods got the start for Lincoln on Senior Night. Woods earned
the win and he was spectacular for five and two-thirds innings. He
allowed zero runs and only two hits. He walked two batters and
struck out one batter.
Noah Rachall pitched in the top of the seventh inning, giving up two
runs on two hits. He walked one batter.
Jaden Leadley pitched to one batter in the sixth inning and ended
the game for the Railsplitters in the seventh inning. He pitched to
four batters, striking out one and walking one.
Trey Schilling and Drew Hayes led the Railsplitters offense.
Schilling was 2-for-3 at the plate. He drove in a run and scored two
runs. Schilling’s big hit was the home run in the sixth inning.
Hayes was also 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and a run scored.
Colbie Glenn, Michael Lucas, Brenden Wurth, Jarrett Evers, Wyatt
Mammen and Jacob Langley also had hits for Lincoln.
Seniors Jaden Leadley, Noah Rachall, Jaron Woods and Jacob Langley
were each honored before the game for their dedication to the
baseball program.
Friday, May 12, 2023
The Glenwood Titans won 7-6 over Lincoln in extra innings on Friday
night.
The Railsplitters put up three runs in the bottom of the first
inning, with Jaden Leadley driving in two runs with a double to left
field and Brenden Wurth contributing an RBI single to center field.
The Titans trimmed the lead to 3-2 in the top of the second inning
and would take a 4-3 lead in the top of the third inning.
Lincoln charged in front 6-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Hayes and Glenn singled while Lucas walked to load the bases.
Leadley’s sacrifice fly tied the game 4-4. Wurth gave the
Railsplitters the 6-4 lead on a single to center field.
In the top of the sixth inning, the Titans came out swinging and
tied the game 6-6 after putting together a couple singles, a double
and a walk.
Neither team could get a run across in the seventh inning and with
the score tied 6-6 the game went into extra innings.
The Titans got a baserunner in the top of the eighth inning via a
single. That runner advanced to second base on a ground out and
eventually scored on a ground ball hit to second base for an error,
giving the Titans a 7-6 lead.
Lincoln got two-out singles from Evers and Schilling in the bottom
of the eighth inning, but those runners were left stranded when the
game ended on a strikeout.
The Titans steal a 7-6 win over Lincoln, thus ending the
Railsplitters seven game winning streak.
Colbie Glenn took the loss for Lincoln. He pitched the final two
innings, allowing one hit and one run.
Tate Johnston started the game for Lincoln. He worked two innings,
allowing three hits and four runs. He struck out one batter.
Dyllan Ferguson pitched three innings for Lincoln. He allowed three
hits and zero runs.
Michael Lucas pitched one inning for Lincoln. He allowed three hits
and two runs. He struck out one batter.
Colbie Glenn and Brenden Wurth had multi-hits for Lincoln.
Glenn was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Wurth was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Leadley was 1-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs.
Jarrett Evers, Trey Schilling and Drew Hayes also had hits off the
Titans pitching staff.
This week Lincoln hosts Jacksonville, Mattoon and Normal West.
