Obituary

Julie Anne Piatchek, 43, of St. Joseph, formerly of Lincoln, was born on October 18, 1979, to Gay (Ruble) and Richard Piatchek in Springfield. She died suddenly on April 28, 2023, in St. Joseph.

Survivors include her children: Madison, McGwire, McKenzie and Miles Atwood, with Kris Atwood, all of St. Joseph; her sister Jennifer (Ryan) Keith and children Gracelyn and Emersyn of Lincoln; her parents John Bowen of Lincoln, and Rich and Kay Piatchek of Tinley Park; amazing aunts, uncles, and cousins, and bonus siblings and nieces and nephews from the Bowens to the Atwoods to the Piatcheks and all the sports families in between. Carol, Ed, Jerry, Kim, Angela, Jason, Rebecca, Jeremy, Matthew, Ethan, Landry, Andrew, Lauren, Ashley, Tom, Kayla, Leah, Heather, Roger, Peyton, Tammy, Hannah, Gage, Haven, Jason, Dennis, Christy, Cody, Nicholas, and more all will feel her absence.

She was greeted in heaven by her mother Gay Bowen, her sister Kristi Piatchek, her grandfather Lyle Bowen, and her aunt Wendy Bowen.

She was a devoted mother, couldn’t wait to be the house with all the popsicles, and loved to host all the parties. She ran her own home daycare for years and earned the nickname of “baby whisperer.” She loved her recent work in human resources for several companies and treated her employees like her children, nurturing their possibilities and encouraging them at all times.

Julie found humor in even the dark times and shared a devilish sense of humor with her sister. She was a tremendous cheerleader of all she loved.

She graduated from Carroll Catholic School, Lincoln Community High School, and Lincoln College.

Julie literally and figuratively fed people with her goodies, her generosity, and her attention. She is already desperately missed as much as she is adored.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 7th, 2023, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 8th, 2023, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lincoln.

Memorials can be made to an account for her children at Longview Bank in care of The Atwood Children Trust or the GoFundMe https://gofund.me/04dcd8a6
