With a 9-3 win over Lincoln Land Community
College in the Region-24 Championship game on May 20, the Hawks
advanced to the national tournament.
This will be the second consecutive year the Heartland Hawks
baseball team’s make an appearance in the national tournament.
Heartland Baseball entered the Region-24 tourney as the top
seed, with an overall record of 53-5 and a 28-4 record against
Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) opponents. The Hawks
advanced undefeated in the Regional Tournament.
A number of Heartland Hawks gained accolades following the
regional victory.
Infielder Sam Antonacci was selected as Region-24 Player of the
Year. Jason Buhl, Ben Hartl, Sam Antonacci, and Corey Boyette
were all named to the Region-24 First Team. Coach Chris Razo was
named MWAC Coach of the Year.
The NJCAA World Series Tournament runs from May 27 to June 3.
