Obituary
Anne Shifflet, wife of Atlanta native
Tom Shifflet, died October 28, 2022, in Chico,
California. A celebration of her life was held
November 4, 2022, at the First Christian Church in
Chico. She was 77.
Anne was born in Mineral Wells, Texas, the daughter
of Major C.L. (“Buster”) and Evelyn Thomas. She grew
up on Army bases in Japan and Italy and graduated
from Baker High School and St. Francis College of
Nursing in Columbus, Georgia.
Anne was a Registered Nurse. She served on the staff
of three hospitals and in doctors’ offices in
Georgia, Iowa, Minnesota, and Ohio. She married Tom
Shifflet on August 28, 1966, at Central Christian
Church in Columbus, Georgia.
Anne had been a Cub Scout den mother, a teacher of
pre-natal classes for expectant parents, a Stephen
Minister, and a member of the General Board of the
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). |
Anne was a strong, supportive wife to
Tom for 56 years, a loving mother of a son Mark and
a daughter Michelle, and a joyous grandmother of Ben
and Jacob.
She was a “cousin-in-law” of Jon and Connie Harris,
rural Waynesville residents.
A brief graveside committal will be held at Atlanta
Cemetery on Wednesday, May 17, at 11:00 a.m. A lunch
will follow at the Atlanta Christian Church.
Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta is assisting
the family.
