[May 25, 2023]  Top-seeded Casper Ruud of Norway and No. 2 Taylor Fritz recorded victories Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Gonet Geneva Open in Geneva, Switzerland.

Ruud made quick work of J.J. Wolf 6-3, 7-5, while Fritz needed to rally past countryman Marcos Giron 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 58 minutes. Fritz served up eight aces and won 70.7 percent of his first serves to advance.

No. 6 seed Tallon Griekspoor of Netherland withdrew from the event, giving Chile's Nicolas Jarry the win in a walkover. It's unclear why Griekspoor forfeited the match. Also, No. 7 Bernabe Zapata Miralles of Spain was forced to retire in the second set, trailing Australia's Christopher O'Connell 6-0, 3-0.

Ilya Ivashka of Belarus upended No. 8 Adrian Mannarino of France 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Fourth-seeded Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov cruised past Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena 6-1, 6-4.
