Trick or Treat with the Mayor
Kids, parents, downtown businesses, and even the Mayor of Lincoln enjoy a Halloween dress-up day

[October 30, 2023]    On Saturday, even though the weather was cloudy and cold, the city of Lincoln held its annual Trick or Treat with the Mayor event. Tracy Welch was dressed as the candy man himself, Willy Wonka.

Welch was set up at a table in the center of Latham Park, and many kids walked up to his table to get some candy. Beside the mayor at Latham, dozens of other businesses in and around the square were handing out candy as well.

There were lots of fun and unique costumes to be seen, with many costume pairs, such as cookies and milk or Darth Vader and Kylo Ren. Other costumes stood out on their own, like the young man riding a bear.

Even some of the businesses got in on the fun, like Peter Pan, Wendy, and the rest of the gang at Guest House or the slice of pizza at Sorrento’s.

Even a few parents got in on the fun, evidenced by the inflatable T-Rex costume. Everyone seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed themselves, kids, parents, and business owners alike.
