[October 29, 2023]  On Friday afternoon Katie Simpson-Charron hosted an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony for her business Highbrow Studio in Lincoln.

Simpson-Charron opened her business downtown late last year, but recently relocated to 202 South Chicago Street. With the new location, Simpson-Charron decided it was time to host the grand opening and celebrate the new location all at one time.

Simpson-Charron is a professional make-up artist, offering make up for special occasions, plus tattooing of eyebrows and more, and body piercing. She is a certified piercing expert, the only one in the community to the best of her knowledge. She explained that there are many who do piercing, but her certification means that her practices are conducted according to a set of standards for health and safety during the process. She said that it does make a difference, as there are many who will tell stories of bad piercing experiences. She said that receiving proper training and instruction helps reduce those “bad experiences.”

On Friday afternoon, Simpson-Charron’s husband and children along with Lincoln Mayor Tracy Welch, Logan County Board Member Kathy Schmidt, Miss 2023 Logan County Fair Ellyn Martinez, Junior Miss Ellie Wrage, Logan County Coroner Don Peasley, LEAD Administrator Andrea Runge, Logan County tourism Director Alice Roate, and Karen Castelein and Chassidy White of Lincoln Daily News joined her behind the ribbon.

Mayor Welch spoke, welcoming Simpson-Charron to her new address on Chicago Street. Board Member Schmidt echoed the message on behalf of the county board.

Simpson-Charron thanked her husband and children for their support and talked about the services she provides. Then the traditional posed picture was taken and the count down to the ribbon cut.

Afterward, everyone was invited in to see the studio and enjoy a variety of refreshments.
