NBA roundup: Grizzlies stun Blazers, break into win column

Desmond Bane recorded 30 points, eight rebounds and five
assists and the Memphis Grizzlies picked up their first win of the
season with a come-from-behind 112-100 victory over the host
Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night.
Jaren Jackson Jr. had 27 points and seven rebounds as Memphis halted
a season-opening six-game losing streak. The 0-6 run was the
Grizzlies' worst start since they dropped their first 13 games of
the 2002-03 season.
Jerami Grant scored 27 points for the Trail Blazers, who had a
three-game winning streak halted. Malcolm Brogdon registered 18
points, 11 assists and seven rebounds and Shaedon Sharpe added 18
points and eight rebounds.
Memphis overcame a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit, ending the game
with a 26-2 burst. The Blazers made just 5 of 25 shots in the final
12 minutes of action.
Mavericks 124, Hornets 118
Luka Doncic scored 23 points despite some shooting woes and Dallas
finally found its touch in a victory against visiting Charlotte.
The Mavericks, who were coming off their only loss of the season,
also got 18 points apiece from Grant Williams and Kyrie Irving, and
15 points and 14 rebounds from rookie Dereck Lively II.
LaMelo Ball's triple-double of 30 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds
led the Hornets, who were trying to post victories in back-to-back
games for the first time this season. P.J. Washington and Gordon
Hayward each poured in 20 points and Mark Williams provided 19
points and 10 rebounds for Charlotte. Rookie Brandon Miller made his
first career start for the Hornets, scoring seven points on 3-for-12
shooting.
Raptors 123, Spurs 116 (OT)
Scottie Barnes scored 25 of his 30 points in the second half and
visiting Toronto dominated the fourth quarter and overtime to rally
to a win over San Antonio.
Barnes added 11 rebounds for Toronto. OG Anunoby and Dennis Schroder
scored 24 points apiece, Jakob Poeltl had a season-high 16 points
and 10 rebounds and Gary Trent Jr. finished with 10 points in the
win.
Keldon Johnson's 26 points paced San Antonio. Zach Collins had 21
points and 11 rebounds, while Victor Wembanyama racked up 20 points,
nine rebounds and a career-high five blocked shots. Malaki Branham
hit for 16 points and Doug McDermott tallied 12 for the Spurs off
the bench.

Suns 120, Pistons 106
Kevin Durant poured in 41 points and Phoenix snapped a three-game
losing streak by defeating host Detroit.
Durant added five assists, four rebounds and two blocks. Eric Gordon
had 21 points, eight assists and five rebounds as the Suns played
their first regular-season game against former coach Monty Williams,
whom Phoenix fired after last season.
Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with 26 points and six assists.
Rookie Marcus Sasser had a season-high 22 points to go with four
assists off the bench, but Detroit lost for the fourth straight
time.
Cavaliers 115, Warriors 104
Donovan Mitchell won a scoring duel over Stephen Curry, Evan Mobley
dominated the glass with 16 rebounds and host Cleveland ended Golden
State's road winning streak at four games.
Mitchell went for a game-high 31 points and Darius Garland added 24
as the Cavaliers -- who hadn't beaten the Warriors in a
regular-season game since Christmas Day 2016 -- won for the second
time in their last three outings.
Curry had a team-high 28 points and Draymond Green scored 18 with a
game-high eight assists for the Warriors, who had opened a four-game
trip with a 141-139 win at Oklahoma City on Friday.
