Obituary

Mikah T. Martin, 6, of Mt. Pulaski passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023.

Mikah Thomas Martin was born October 16, 2017, in Springfield, at a whopping 9 lb. 3.5 oz. He was the happiest baby in the Martin clan. You could find him giggling most days on his own but could easily trigger a belly laugh with tickles, blowing on his belly, jokes, or using a little playful trick. He loved games, jumping on the trampoline, treasure hunts, swinging, playgrounds, pinatas, animals (especially dogs and horses), playing outside (especially at Mimi’s), sleepovers, and Birthdays/Halloween/Christmas.

Mikah loved bathing and swimming and was known for his excellent belly flops into the pool. He was jumping in the pool at 21 months. He also loved being naked. I would often lose track of him and he would be outside in the sand or playing with water and without clothes. Sometimes he would go through 4 outfits a day. You also may catch him mooning you some days, as he loved shaking and showing his booty matching his love for farts, poops, butts, and whoopee cushions.

Our wild child, for sure, even rocked a solid mullet for some time. Mikah loved movies, stuffed animals, and legos. He loved games, but really wanted to win :). He was our creative kid - loved coloring, colors, and arts & crafts. He loved dancing and had some outrageous moves.

Mikah so loved his brothers Lukas, Noah, and his new baby sister, Julieanne. He loved his whole family, and we sure loved him. He was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Leukemia on February 7, 2023. He continued to have consistent recurrent leukemia, but Mighty Mikah never gave up until his last breath. I guess no matter what we could have done here on earth, God wanted him home more. He is no longer in discomfort. He has no more testing or any medical concerns. He is free and so very happy again.

Mikah was welcomed into heaven on November 5th, 2023, at the young age of 6 years old. I know he ran into Jesus’ sweet embrace. I’m sure Mikah called Jesus a “coo-coo-butt” or some other playful name. Dear Mikah, we will miss you with every waking breath until we meet again. We love you Mikah Thomas Martin, fly high our sweet baby.

Mikah is survived by his parents, Jesse and Kimberly (Oglesby) Martin; his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Candy Martin; his maternal grandparents, Carl and Julie Oglesby; his siblings, Lukas, Noah, and Julieanne Martin; his aunts & uncles, Katie (Tyler) White, Kristin (Brian) Griffiths, Kelsey Oglesby (Fiancé Colton Leake), J. Martin, and Sarah Martin; his cousins, Preston, Phinn, Paislee, John, Sam, and Ben.

A Celebration of Mikah’s life will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 pm at The Family Life Center in Mt. Pulaski. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kim or Jesse Martin to create a foundation in Mikah’s memory.

Services have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mt. Pulaski.
