Obituary
Lois Joy Snyder, 90, of Lincoln
passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at St.
Clara’s Rehab & Senior Care in Lincoln.
Lois was born on May 17, 1933, in Broadwell, the
daughter of Leonard & Yvonne (Rickord) Tucker. She
married Melvin “Buck” Snyder on June 19, 1955, he
preceded her in death on August 7, 2015.
Lois is survived by her children, Keith (Beth)
Snyder of Lincoln and Sara (Aaron) McCain of
Cornland; her granddaughters, Hannah Snyder of
Chicago, Hayley (William) Grover of Fort
Leavenworth, KS, and Molly McCain of Lincoln; her
honorary granddaughter, Amber Martin of Chicago, her
great-grandchildren, August Grover and Emma Grover
both of Fort Leavenworth, KS; and her cousin, Mary
Karen (Rick) Jablonski of Joliet. Additionally, Lois
is survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband; her son, Kent; and her aunt, Bettie Martin.
Lois earned her associate degree from Lincoln
College and taught kindergarten at the Mt. Pulaski
Grade School for several years. Following the birth
of her children, she was a substitute teacher and
clerk at Annette’s Candy Shop in Lincoln. She then
had a long career at the JCPenney store in Lincoln
and retired from there after many years. |
Lois was a member of Zonta and the
ALMH Auxiliary. She was an excellent cook and
enjoyed hosting friends and family.
She was an active member at Lincoln Christian Church
where she played the piano, served as deaconess, and
was a high school youth sponsor with her husband,
Buck. For decades Buck and Lois canned thousands of
jars of jams & jellies for the Harvest of Talents;
they also served on the Harvest of Talents
Coordinating Team.
Services for Lois will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday,
November 3, 2023, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home in Lincoln. Visitation will take place from 4
p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, also
at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services
at Lucas Chapel Cemetery in Lincoln.
Memorial donations may be made in Lois’ name to
Harvest of Talents or Lincoln Christian Church.
