The Illinois Fighting Illini committed 15 turnovers and struggled to execute at critical junctures in the contest leading to a 71-64 loss to Marquette University last night in the State Farm Center. There were a few things to like about the game-Terrance Shannon, Jr. who had 21 points-Luke Goode who tallied 13 points-Marcus Domask chipped in 18 points-Quincy Guerrier who yanked down 10 rebounds.

Not only did Marquette shoot it well enough to be successful, but their defense was stifling at times. In the last 9 minutes, Illinois had too many empty possessions which allowed the Golden Eagles to control the pace and tempo. They also managed the clock exceedingly well.

The Illini have a lot of work to do and have much to clean up. Their record dropped to 2-1 and they will be back in action Friday night when they host former Illini star Roger Powell, Jr. and Valparaiso University.
