Obituary
John W. Meyers, 77, of Lincoln,
passed away at OSF St. Francis Transitional Care
Hospital in Peoria, on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
Services for Mr. Meyers will be held at Peasley
Funeral Home on Saturday, November 25, 2023,
beginning with Visitation at 11:00 a.m., followed by
Funeral Services at 12:00 p.m.
Burial will be at Old Union Cemetery in Lincoln on
Monday, November 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
John William Meyers was born April 18, 1946, in
Lincoln, the son of John G. and Margaret F. Holland
Meyers.
He is survived by Lyn Hopkins, his life partner of
43 years; children: Angie Swan, Crystal Meyers,
Shawn Meyers, John Hopkins and Dannon Hopkins; 25
grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and
great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Frances
Stella Hawkins; and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by one
son, John W. Meyers, Jr., and one daughter, Frances
LaVonne Meyers; and three siblings: Grant Meyers,
Freddy Meyers, and Don Reveter, Sr.
John was a 1964 graduate of Lincoln Community High
School. He worked for many years as a construction
worker. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, old
Western movies, and using his flight simulator on
his computer. He wasn’t keen on actually flying, but
he could say he had been all around the world. John
was a member of the Baptist faith.
Memorials may be made to his family in the care of
Shawn Meyers. 11 A.M.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Peasley
Funeral Home of Lincoln.
