 This
fall the youth department did a complete weeding of two areas,
Juvenile Fiction and Young Adult Nonfiction. This allowed the
graphics novels to have their own area in both sections. We also
rearranged the children’s department to create an inviting play area
where caregivers can comfortably sit and watch their small children
play safely. As a bonus, this also gave the older kids an area of
their own.
Don’t miss the fun of our upcoming programs which include Wednesday
morning storytimes at 10:00 and 11:00AM.
It’s time to get out of the
house with baby for Baby Bee’s, October 27th and November 10th at
10:00AM, for stories, movement, music, and play with Miss Emily. We
have so much fun!
The Library will be hosting
an all-day Trick or Treat event on October 31st and we are recycling
empty candy wrappers. Just drop your candy wrappers in the special
box in the Youth Services Department.
There will be a special
story time on November 1st on food insecurity with a food drive in
conjunction with the GFWC Lincoln Woman’s Club. Drop off
non-perishable, unexpired can goods and see the awesome Food Castle.
There will be an evening
story time on Family Reading Night, November 16th at 5:00PM, with
crafts, games, and refreshments for the whole family until 7:00PM.
Be sure to mark your
calendar for a visit with Hugo Kringle, Santa’s little brother, with
stories, songs, and refreshments for the entire family on December
13 from 5:00-6:00PM.
Don’t forget D&D on
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30PM, with Mr. Nathan, for our older
kids. For more information on joining D&D call the youth department.
Some other new things to see and do at Lincoln Public Library are
the displays of pumpkins young patrons painted, the progress of our
decomposing pumpkin, the growth of the hydroponics garden, a fairy
garden terrarium (work in progress), and newly purchased books, kits
and Keva blocks are all waiting for you and your imagination.

CIRCULATION NEWS
Fix-It Lincoln – The Library now offers a new collection of
books on maintenance, repair, and upkeep. The books include topics
such as automobiles, homes, lawns, health care, musical instruments,
boats, and much more. Funding for this grant was awarded by the U.S.
Institute of Museum and Library Services to the Secretary of
State/Illinois State Library.

Links on our Website - Our website has links to many free
services, such as Library On The Go, WorldCat, Khan Academy, the
improved World Book Web, and our Ask A Librarian service, as well as
various downloadable forms. Check out what’s new!
3M Cloud – This is our new ebook database, which is an
addition to our existing Library On The Go database. Thousands of
titles are available, with more being added weekly, and can be
searched via our online catalog. You will need a PIN number to get
started. Stop by our Circulation Department for easy instructions.
Zinio – An electronic magazine collection with hundreds of
titles. Create your account with Zinio from our website and start
reading. Stop by the Circulation Desk for more information.
Going on a trip? – The Circulation Staff can put a hold on
any outstanding requests you may have so you will get them when you
return. Just stop by and let the staff know your travel dates.
E-mails and text messages – Our computer program allows
patrons to receive texts and/or
e-mails for notification of reserved items and overdue notices. If
you are interested in this service, please talk to a member of our
Circulation Staff.
PIN Numbers – Don’t forget to take advantage of a PIN number
(password) for your account. With a PIN, you can search the entire
POLARIS system, see what items you have out, and request and renew
books from home.
Gift Certificates – Need a gift idea? You can purchase a one
year Library card for an individual or complete family that lives
out of the library district. We will provide a gift certificate for
presenting, and the recipient can bring it in, along with a photo ID
and proof of address to receive their own Library Card.
Book Clubs - The Annex Building Circulation Desk collects
reading lists for all the Book Clubs in the area. So if you can’t
remember what you read or what you are supposed to read, we have you
covered. Drop off your lists at the Circulation Desk, or e-mail
