Hilltoppers pick up first win on the season

The Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers picked up their first win on the season Wednesday night in the 13th Annual Bill Rucks Varsity Boys Basketball Tournament.

The Hilltoppers dominated the Tri-City/Sangamon Valley Tornadoes and won by a final score of 56-35.

Mount Pulaski led 17-3 at the end of the first quarter with Franklin Wade leading all scorers with six points.

By halftime Mount Pulaski was up 28-8.

At the end of the third quarter, Mount Pulaski was on top 38-26.

The Hilltoppers poured in 18 points in the fourth quarter, with Wade and Beau Tschantz combining for eleven points.

With the 56-35 victory the Hilltoppers improve to 1-1 on the season.

Franklin Wade led Mount Pulaski with 18 points.

Beau Tschantz tossed in 13 points for the Hilltoppers.

The Hilltoppers will play Clinton tonight at 8:00 p.m. as the tournament continues.
