Black
Friday turned colorful and bright around the square in downtown
Lincoln at this year’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday
evening. Families bundled against the cold and gathered around the
courthouse to help count down to the moment when all 140 Christmas
trees were lit simultaneously.
Decorated by local businesses and families, each tree was trimmed
with its own unique ornaments, garlands, and twinkling lights.
Event organizer Kathie Williams of Small Town
Creations and Mayor Tracy Welch welcomed everyone to the ceremony
along with Logan County Fair royalty, Miss Logan County Fair Queen
Ellyn Martinez, Junior Miss Logan County Ellie Wrage, and Little
Miss Logan County Kodi Eigenbrod.

After Williams kicked off the 3-2-1 countdown, all
the trees lit up on cue and families strolled the sidewalks around
the courthouse square enjoying the lights, posing for photos, and
choosing their favorite trees.
The courthouse square Christmas trees, carriage rides, ice skating
at Scully Park, and downtown local businesses with unique items and
delicious food will be available to enjoy all season long.
