Lincoln Christian University holds third annual Gala

Lincoln Christian University held its third annual Gala on Saturday 7th.

Special music was played, and a fabulous dinner was served catered by Nelson's Catering. Tanner Green, teaching pastor for Oceanpointe Christian Church, was the Keynote Speaker.

Pastor Green, an LCU alum, also serves on the LCU Board of Trustees and holds the title of New England Regional Director, Orchard Group. Pastor Green noted that “Hope for Everyone” is the slogan for his church in Rhode Island, hope he learned through LCU ministry. He said that students at LCU are humble and bold because LCU leadership is humble and bold in their teachings. He also emphasized that students from LCU are currently in all corners of the world, and they pour into others, all while continuing to point people to Jesus.

Following Pastor Green, an “LCU to You” Mission Impact video was played. Pastor Bret Hammond was one of the people who shared a little of his testimony. He shared that he has an autistic son who was born 21 years ago, and therefore his life has been devoted to taking care of his son, making a classroom setting difficult for him to further his education.

He credits LCU online classes for making it possible for him to be at home with his son and accomplish his master’s degree. He noted the communication being amazing, the online communities with other students, and how close that made him and his classmates even though they were far apart.

Next was the President's Address by Silas McCormick, JD, PHD.

Dr. McCormick serves as the eighth president at LCU and has been in that role for three years. He spoke of discipleship, and that making disciples matters. He emphasized “discipleship is a journey, not a destination.”

The Class of 1973 were special guests and honored at the end of the evening with a special gift, and class photo.

At the end of the evening, guests were given an opportunity to contribute to LCU’s many programs, all which ultimately reach several areas of the world through ministry.

Next year's LCU Gala date will be October 4, 2024.
