							Obituary

Darlene “Dar” Marie Arnold Budd, 91,
of Lincoln, passed away on Thursday, September 21,
							2023, at her home.
Darlene “Dar” Marie Arnold Budd was a cherished
wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was born
on April 3, 1932, in Hartsburg and moved to Lincoln
after marrying Ronald Budd in 1955. They celebrated
68 years of marriage this year.

She was preceded in death by her parents (Clarence
Arnold and Marie Cross Arnold), son Kevin (Karen),
and brother Eugene Arnold. She is survived by her
husband Ronald, son Kent (Julie), sister Carol
Reiners (Alan – deceased), grandchildren Claire
Budd, Kelsey Budd, Kate Johnson, Reid Johnson and
							many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She attended Hartsburg Emden High School and still
enjoyed reunions as a member of the class of 1949.
She was a beloved grade school secretary at
Washington Monroe for 24 years and always enjoyed
chance meetings with former students from long ago.
She was a long-time volunteer at the Pink Shutter
thrift shop in Lincoln, and very active in the
							congregation of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Dar spent her life in central Illinois and enjoyed
the fields and crops, birds and deer, and anything
to do with nature. She loved travel, including
favorite trips to Nova Scotia, Alaska, and Scotland.

							She enjoyed summer family vacations
in Minnesota, and wintering in Florida. She made
friends wherever she went and leaves behind many
							wonderful companions.
She loved her family and home. She
was a terrific mother who worried just the right
amount about her kids but was always positive. She
and her loving husband, Ron were inseparable.
Perhaps most of all she loved being Grandma Dar. She
cherished her grandchildren and spent many wonderful
adventures with them as they grew. She will be
missed tremendously by all of her friends and
							family.
She loved her Lord and Savior and looked forward to
seeing loved ones who passed before her. A memorial
service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on
Wednesday, September 27 at 10:00 AM. Memorials may
be made in Dar’s memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
							Arrangements have been entrusted to
							Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
