The theft occurred between 12:30 and 4 am.
local time at the baseball academy in Bosa Chica.
A report from the Dominican Republic said players were taken out
of their rooms and coaches were held at gunpoint, adding armed
robberies recently have occurred at the facilities of the
Cleveland Guardians and Miami Marlins.
"This was scary on many fronts," said John Mozeliak, the
Cardinals' president of baseball operations. "Our players and
staff were shaken up but not harmed. No one was injured, and we
will reassess our security provisions immediately."
