Lincoln wins Silver Bracket in the Bloomington Central Catholic Saints Classic Tournament

The Lady Railers ended the weekend with a 4-1 record in the 2023 Bloomington Central Catholic Saints Classic that was held at the Shirk Center on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University.

Lincoln defeated Decatur St. Teresa 25-10 and 25-9 in the first game Friday night.

During the game versus Decatur St. Teresa, senior Addy Qualters recorded her 1,500th career assist for the Lady Railers.

The Lady Railers then lost 25-20, 17-25 and 5-15 to Morton in the late game Friday night.

On Saturday morning Lincoln defeated Maroa-Forsyth 25-11 and 25-10.

In the next game on Saturday, Lincoln defeated Williamsville 25-22 and 25-19.

The Lady Railers won the silver bracket on Saturday afternoon by defeating Pleasant Plains 25-19 and 25-12.

Kloe Froebe led the Lady Railers with 46 kills in the tournament. She also added 30 digs.

Peyton Sasse was named to the all-tournament team. Sasse had 37 kills and 19 digs.

Lincoln coach Kaylee Lowery offered these comments following a full weekend of volleyball.

“The tournament this weekend had some good competition,” said Lowery. “We fell to Morton who played great and blocked well. We had a lot of players step up once our middle, Rebecca Burge, came down on her ankle wrong. Peyton Sasse shifted to the middle and Lily Holmes was able to get some reps on the outside. Saturday Taryn Stoltzenburg took over as libero and played extremely well. She had 39 digs and had an impressive and consistent serve receive for us. Becca Heitzig also passed well Friday, turned around Saturday and won her race in the Central State Eight Conference and then rushed over to help us win our last match of the tournament.”

Lincoln improved their record to 28-4 on the season.

The Lady Railers will host Decatur MacArthur Tuesday night and Bloomington on Thursday night.
