Obituary
Daniel Lee “Hohner” Splain, 63, of
Lincoln, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023.
Dan was born April 22, 1960, in Lincoln, the son of
Donald and Margaret (Hyde) Splain. He married Linda
Trapp in 1987.
Dan is survived by his daughter, Ellen (Joseph)
Roberts; son, Harrison (Hailey) Splain; three
grandchildren, Winifred Roberts, Oliver and Tommie
Splain; his siblings, Tom (Kristin) Splain, William
(Deborah) Splain, and Julie (Steve) Canham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an
infant sister, Caroline.
Dan loved spending time with family
and friends. He loved nature and being outdoors-
fishing, hunting, and golfing. He was a foodie who
loved to cook - especially cooking competitions with
his brothers. An avid sports fan, supporting the
Cubs, the Bears, and the Fighting Illini. Dan
enjoyed his career in sales. |
A celebration of Dan’s life will be
held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the
Lincoln Elks Ballroom.
Memorials may be made in Dan’s name to the Disabled
American Veterans Charity or the Illinois Elks
Children’s Care Corporation.
Cremation rites have been entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
