Obituary
Regina A. Beard, 80, of Lincoln,
passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at St.
John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Regina was born April 12, 1943, in Lincoln, the
daughter of Edward and Mabel (McCray) Sumski. She
married John Beard on May 14, 1966, in Lincoln.
Regina is survived by her husband, John; sons, Jared
Beard of Davenport, IA, and Nathan (Kristen) Beard
of Lincoln, grandson, Blake Landstrom of
Bloomington, her siblings, Sandra Bergman of
Chatham, Sharon (Jerry) Davis of Sherman, and
Michael J. Sumski of Palm Springs, CA; and nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant
sister, Shirley Sumski; and brother-in-law, Dale
Bergman.
Regina graduated from Lincoln Community High School,
during that time she worked for the Lincoln Public
Library. Later in life, Regina graduated from
Lincoln College and University of Illinois -
Springfield. She worked for the Illinois Department
of Corrections, DCFS in Champaign, and State Bank of
Lincoln. |
Regina was a member of Holy Family
Catholic Church in Lincoln. She enjoyed many sports
including golf, tennis, and basketball. Regina spent
time fishing and traveling. Above all, Regina loved
spending time with her family.
Services for Regina will be held at
11 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln,
with Ron Otto officiating. Visitation will take
place two hours prior from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the
funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Holy
Cross Cemetery in Lincoln.
Memorials may be made in Regina’s name to The Humane
Society of Logan County.
