Lincoln
Memorial Hospital Community Health and Brightpoint’s The Butterfly
Project, a mental health and wellness program, will partner to offer
a free, simulated experience aimed at increasing understanding of
domestic violence. Participants will receive a character and walk
through the experience “in their shoes,” making decisions based on
their character’s circumstances and available resources.
“We hope that those who participate will walk away understanding the
many challenges people experiencing domestic violence may face,”
said Angela Stoltzenburg, director of Community Health.
The free event will be held as an open house on Wednesday, Oct. 4,
at Lincoln Park District. No registration is required. The
experience is expected to take approximately 40 minutes to complete.
The public is welcome to attend anytime between 1 and 3 p.m.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which raises awareness
of violence within family and intimate relationships.
