Obituary

Dale W. Steffens, 75, of Naples, FL, died on September 1, 2023 in cardiac ICU with his wife and pastor at his side.

He was born in Lincoln, on January 27, 1948, son of the late Merritt and Doris Steffens. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and later was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Dale is survived by his wife, Bonnie; three children: Erica (Chris) Turlington, Kimberly (Mike) Jacoby and Aaron Steffens; siblings: brother Darrell (Kathy) Steffens, sister Darla (Scott) Smith, sister-in-law Pat Steffens; and two rambunctious grandchildren: Pierce and Haven Jacoby.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve Steffens and David Steffens.

Dale was employed at Lehn & Fink in purchasing. After the plant closed, he served as East Lincoln Township Highway Commissioner before retiring to Naples.

Dale was passionate about his faith, his family, his flock of Hampshire sheep, the Fighting Illini and politics.

During his valiant, successful battle with cancer, Dale often said that he was in a win-win situation: either he would continue to live in this amazing world, or he would be in heaven with God. He is at home in heaven with his Lord now.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Grace Lutheran Church, 860 Banyan Blvd., Naples, FL 34102. Family and friends are welcome to attend the service and a gathering with refreshments immediately following the service.
