[September 29, 2023]

During the 2021-2022 season, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that influenza (the flu) was associated with 9 million illnesses, 4 million medical visits, 10,000 hospitalizations, and 5,000 deaths in the United States. The Logan County Department of Public Health (LCDPH) urges everyone to help protect themselves during this flu season by getting immunized.

All persons six months of age and up, with rare exceptions, are recommended to get the flu vaccine. Vaccination is particularly important for people who are at high risk for serious complications from influenza. This group includes people 65 years and older, people of any age with certain chronic medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease), pregnant women, and young children.

LCDPH offers the flu vaccine in both regular and high dose. The high dose is more commonly given to those 65 and older. It is recommended you talk with your doctor about which type is best for you. LCDPH accepts all major insurance including Medicaid/Medicare and will bill direct. You must bring your insurance card to receive a vaccine or cash pay will be required. Immunizations at the LCDPH clinic are offered Monday through Friday from 7:45am to 3:45pm and, for convenience, no appointment is needed.

For added convenience, LCDPH will be offering weekend and after hour on-site and off-site flu clinics on the following days:
