Mount Pulaski pounded out 10 hits on Saturday
and with Eric Cooper and Carter Clark getting the job done on
the mound, they held Eisenhower hitless in the 14-0 win.
Mount Pulaski scored five times in the first inning, pretty much
setting the tone for the day. Luke Martin, Franklin Wade and
Aaron Volle contributed RBI singles. Tyler Cross also had an RBI
groundout in the inning.
Martin scored the first run of the three-run third inning after
he tripled and scored on an error. Volle added an RBI groundout
and Preston Cowan had an RBI single, bringing the score to 8-0.
A five-run fourth inning was just business as usual for the
heavy-hitting Hilltoppers. Payne drove in the first run of the
inning on a base hit. Cross and Cowan each batted in runs on
singles. The Hilltoppers took advantage of an error to score
another run.
Tucker Fitzpatrick scored the final run in the top of the fifth
inning for Mount Pulaski.
After tossing a scoreless fifth inning for Mount Pulaski and
getting two strikeouts in his outing, Carter Clark walked off
the mound with the Hilltoppers staying perfect on the season
with a 14-0 win.
Eric Cooper started the game for Mount Pulaski. He worked four
innings of no-hit baseball, striking out eight batters and
walking one.
Luke Martin and Preston Cowan each had two hits for Mount
Pulaski.
Eric Cooper, Tucker Fitzpatrick, Chance Payne, Tyler Cross,
Franklin Wade and Aaron Volle had one hit apiece.
The Hilltoppers improved to 8-0 on the season.
Mount Pulaski will host Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond on
Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
