[April 07, 2024]    The Lincoln Railers softball team had a pretty uneventful week last week as the team had two rainouts and one loss.

Lincoln’s 11-1 loss came at the hands of the Rochester Rockets on Tuesday.

Taryn Stoltzenburg scored the Railers lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Stoltzenburg led off the inning with a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch and reached third on a sacrifice bunt. She scored when Kelsey Marten slugged a double to center. The run in the fourth inning still left the Railers trailing 4-1 at the time.

Rochester scored twice in the sixth inning and then really put the nail in the coffin with five runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Brooklyn Thompson and Peyton Purves each homered for the Rockets.

Lincoln had four hits in the game, with Stoltzenburg having two of them.

Kelsey Marten and Faith Eckhardt had the other two hits for Lincoln.

Regan Kutz started the game for Lincoln and she lasted two innings, giving up four hits and two runs. She walked one and struck out one.

Madisen Wurth pitched five innings and allowed nine hits and nine runs. She walked five and struck out seven.

Jaelyn Watts picked up the win for Rochester.

Lincoln’s record is now 4-7.

Better weather is forecasted to start the week as Lincoln hosts Athens today at 4:30 p.m.
