Health reminds citizens of the dangers of viewing the eclipse

On
Monday, April 8, 2024, a solar eclipse will be visible across the
entire United States. The moon is expected to pass in front of the
sun in Central Illinois around 1:58pm.
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH),
attempting to directly look at the sun while observing an eclipse,
no matter how dark, without proper eye protection could cause
permanent eye damage. Standard sunglasses do not offer the needed
protection as people need to wear safe eclipse viewers that meet the
ISO 12312-2 international standard.
