Obituary
Charles David Thaxton, 73, of
Earlville, formerly of Atlanta, passed away March
28, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Cremation rites have been accorded
by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home.
A time of visitation will be from
5-7 PM Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Holland Barry &
Bennett Funeral Home with a celebration of life
service at 7 PM. Casual dress is requested.
Charles was born November 1, 1950, in Corning,
Arkansas, son of Marvin Thaxton and Mary Agnes
(Delaney). He married Kay Swille on February 15,
1974. She preceded him in death on February 19,
2008.
Charles graduated from high school
and then attended Arkansas State University. He
remained a lifelong Arkansas Razorback fan. He
retired from Eaton after several years of service.
He was a musician and loved the Lord with all of his
heart. He played the piano at Minier Assembly of God
for several years. He was instrumental in starting
the band at New Wine School and was able to share
his love of music with many students. His family
brought so much joy to his life. |
Charles enjoyed photography, golf,
fishing, and attending final four games. He was a
history buff and loved the History Channel. Charles
also had a fun side and loved watching A Christmas
Story movie.
Survivors include his children:
Holly (Ryan) Riggleman and Mindy (Richard) Scarber;
grandchildren: Christian, Sydney, Kayla, and Owen;
great grandchildren: Gracelynn, Paisley, and Laken;
siblings: Curtis Thaxton, Howard Thaxton, Marvine
Dortch, and Susie Thomasson. Several nieces,
nephews, cousins, extended family members and
friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, his wife Kay, and his sister Shirley Tyler.
Memorial donations may be made to
the family in care of Holly Riggleman and will be
accepted at the funeral home.
