Luke
Martin was masterful on the mound for Mount Pulaski on Wednesday
afternoon at Veterans Park and he was able to go the distance, pick
up the win and fan 11 Bombers along the way.
Mount Pulaski was quick to jump on the Bombers in the first inning,
plating three runs. Landon Smith and Franklin Wade had RBI singles
and Tyler Cross had a fielder’s choice that scored a run.
Landon Smith’s RBI double in the second inning made the score 4-0.
In the bottom of the third inning, Kolin Gibbs added a sacrifice
bunt that scored Cross to increase the lead to 5-0.
The Bombers put together a couple hits and walks in the fourth
inning to score four runs but it wasn’t enough to chase Martin from
the mound. Mount Pulaski committed an error in the field that helped
the Bombers run-scoring opportunity.
