Pioneers defeat Railsplitters 12-1

[April 18, 2024] 

A huge third inning by Normal University High buried the Lincoln Railsplitters on Wednesday night. The Pioneers hosted Lincoln at Duffy Bass Field in Normal and with nine runs crossing the plate in the bottom of the third inning, the home team was able to walk away with a 12-1 win.

Lincoln’s only run came in the top of the fifth inning when both Drew Hayes and Colbie Glenn hit doubles.

Lincoln had six hits versus Normal pitching.

Colbie Glenn, Michael Lucas, Jarrett Evers, Brenden Wurth, Trey Schilling and Drew Hayes had the hits for Lincoln.

Griffin Meyer led the Pioneers at the plate. He was 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the win.

Wyatt Mammen took the loss for Lincoln. He threw two innings, allowing six hits and ten runs. He struck out four and walked six.

Brenden Wurth pitched two innings and allowed four hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out one.

Lincoln’s record is now 8-7.

The Railsplitters will play today at Springfield Southeast at 4:30 p.m.
