Mother charged after child overdoses
A Joliet woman is facing charges after her 12-year-old daughter
died after taking a combination of heroin and fentanyl. Last
Sunday, police were called after Colette Bancroft found her
daughter unresponsive in their home. When officers arrived they
performed CPR and administered Narcan. The girl was taken to a
hospital and died Wednesday. Officers learned that Bancroft and
her daughter shared a bedroom and the suspected drugs were in
the mother’s purse. Bancroft was charged with possession of
controlled substances with more charges possible.
