The
Lincoln Railsplitters defeated Lanphier 11-0 Friday night at Robin
Roberts Stadium in Springfield.
Lincoln had 13 hits off Lions pitching, with Colbie Glenn and
Michael Lucas each having a big day at the plate.
Glenn was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. He hit a solo
home run in the fifth inning.
Lucas was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Drew Hayes, Karson Komnick and Tate Johnston also had two hits
apiece.
Brenden Wurth and Wes Tedrick each had one hit.
Lincoln scored in every inning, starting with two runs in the first
inning.
Colbie Glenn’s lead-off double was a great way to start a ballgame.
Michael Lucas and Brenden Wurth each added RBI singles for the 2-0
lead.
Lucas hit another RBI single in the second inning to set the score
at 3-0.
Trey Schilling hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Drew Hayes in the
third inning. Tate Johnston also doubled in a runner, Jaedyn Gulley,
in the third inning to make the score 5-0.

Tedrick started the Railsplitters off with a triple
in the fourth inning. He scored on Glenn’s ground out to short.
Lucas then tripled to right and scored when Hayes singled to center.
Another Lincoln runner, Dyllan Ferguson, scored on defensive
indifference. Komnick drove in another run with a single to center
and the score escalated to 10-0.
Glenn’s home run came in the top of the fifth inning with two outs.
With Drew Hayes shutting down the Lions in the
bottom of the inning, the Railsplitters got back in the win column
with an 11-0 victory over Lanphier.
Tate Johnston earned the win for Lincoln. Johnston tossed four
innings of shutout baseball, allowing just three hits. He struck out
five batters and walked three.
Drew Hayes pitched one inning and walked one and struck out two
batters.
Lincoln improved their record to 9-7 on the season.
