Railsplitters take two from Prairie Central
Colbie Glenn homers twice on the day

The Lincoln Railsplitters swept a doubleheader on Saturday from the Prairie Central Hawks. Lincoln won the first game 20-1 with Michael Lucas driving in five runs for the Railsplitters. In game two, Lincoln won 18-2 with both Lucas and Colbie Glenn driving in four runs apiece.

Glenn homered in each game, bringing his streak to three home runs in the last three games.

The 20-1 thumping of the Hawks ended after five innings, with Lincoln scoring in each inning.

Colbie Glenn started this game with a double and he would score on a passed ball after stealing third. Jarrett Evers added a sacrifice fly to make the score 2-0.

The Hawks scored their only run of the game on an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning.

Lincoln scored two more runs in the second inning when Lucas slugged a double, scoring Trey Schilling and Parker Graue.

Lincoln added three more runs in the third inning. Schilling had an RBI single, Brenden Wurth scored on a balk and Drew Hayes scored on a passed ball.

An eight-run fourth inning really busted the game wide open for Lincoln. Two walks and two hit batters started the trouble for the Hawks in the inning. The Railsplitters big inning just had two hits, a single by Griffin Shaw and a double by Lucas. The double by Lucas was a bases-clearing knock to center that made the score 15-1. Three additional walks in the inning also contributed to the high score.

With Wurth and Schilling each hitting doubles in the top of the fifth inning, the score kept climbing. Graue added a sacrifice fly and the score was 17-1. After a walk to Tate Johnston, Glenn homered on a 2-0 count to left field and both Jaedyn Gulley and Johnston scored on the three-run blast.

Carson Fuiten pitched a 1-2-3 fifth inning versus the Hawks and Lincoln was a 20-1 winner.

Fuiten picked up the win by working five innings. He allowed two hits, one unearned run and walked one. He struck out five batters.

Colbie Glenn, Michael Lucas and Trey Schilling led the Railsplitters offense.

Glenn was 2-for-3 with four runs scored and three RBIs.

Lucas was 2-for-2 with five RBIs and two runs scored.

Schilling was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBIs.

Brenden Wurth, Griffin Shaw and Wes Tedrick each had a hit to round out the Railsplitters offense.

Game two

Game two was an even quicker affair, lasting four innings. Lincoln was on the board in each inning, capping things off with a ten-run fourth inning.

Lincoln scored three times in the first inning. Trey Schilling’s RBI double was the big blast. Brenden Wurth and Michael Lucas also had RBI singles.

The Hawks scored on an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning.

Glenn’s two-run home run was the big blast of the second inning, giving Lincoln a 5-1 lead.

Lincoln plated three runs in the third inning, with Lucas coming up with a two-run single. Glenn also had a bases loaded walk good for another run and an 8-1 lead.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Railsplitters hit into a double play but then went on to score ten runs with two outs. Komnick, Glenn, Lucas and Gulley each drove in runs with base hits. Wurth drove in two runs with a double. Three errors in the inning plagued the Hawks and when it was all said and done, Lincoln was on top 18-1.

The Hawks added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI double.

Parker Graue won the 18-2 affair by tossing four innings and allowing four hits and two runs. Only one run was earned. Graue walked one and struck out four.

Lincoln had 15 hits off Hawks pitching.

Michael Lucas had himself another great game at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored.

Colbie Glenn joined the fun and was 2-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored.

Brenden Wurth was 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs and a run scored.

Drew Hayes was 2-for-4 with three runs scored.

Trey Schilling was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Jarrett Evers, Karson Komnick, Wes Tedrick and Jaedyn Gulley each had one hit for Lincoln.

The Railsplitters record improved to 11-7 on the season.

Lincoln will play at Morton on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
