DC (2-2) had just moved in front on Matthew
McCrane's 39-yard boot exactly one minute earlier. But
Birmingham then used five plays to move 31 yards, setting up
Ahmed's game-winner.
The lead changed hands four times in the final 7:41, as McCrane
and Ahmed also traded field goals earlier in the fourth quarter.
Matt Corral connected on 19 of 29 passes for 240 yards and a
touchdown for the Stallions (4-0), whose leading receiver was
Amari Rodgers (four catches, 82 yards, TD).
Jordan Ta'amu had 161 yards and a pair of scores on 12-for-22
passing for the Defenders.
Battlehawks 32, Showboats 17
Quarterback AJ McCarron threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns
to lead St. Louis to a home win over Memphis.
Jacob Saylors added 103 yards on the ground on 15 carries as the
Battlehawks (3-1) outgained Memphis 355-127 in total yards. With
his team nursing a 20-17 lead going into the fourth quarter,
McCarron found Jake Sutherland for a 7-yard touchdown connection
to provide breathing room, then polished off the win with an
8-yard touchdown throw to Jahcour Pearson.
Memphis (1-3) kept up for a half, trading scores, and even
grabbed an early 6-3 lead on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Case
Cookus to Vinny Papale.
Brahmas 19, Panthers 9
Quinten Dormady racked up 269 passing yards and host San Antonio
allowed just three points through the first three quarters to
cruise to a victory over Michigan.
Dormady completed 23 of 37 passes and threw for one touchdown.
He was also picked off once as the Brahmas improved to 3-1.
Justin Smith had seven catches for 107 yards, while Jontre
Kirklin hauled in five receptions for 105.
The Panthers (2-2) were held in check until their second-to-last
drive of the game, when Danny Etling found Marcus Simms for a
41-yard touchdown. Etling had 105 yards, a touchdown and an
interception on 11-of-14 passing.
