The Olympia FFA will hold its annual plant
sale on Saturday, May 4 and Saturday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
each day, at the high school greenhouse.

The
Olympia FFA members have worked hard throughout the year to get
plants ready for the sale. The FFA chapter is growing over 45 plant
varieties including annual flowers, perennials, vegetables, herbs,
and hanging baskets. Out of the 45 varieties, the petunias seem to
be the most popular. Starting at the beginning of the second
semester of the school year, students in agriculture classes plant
plugs and seeds in the greenhouse to sell to the community. Then,
throughout the semester the students have taken care of the plants
by watering them, giving them fertilizer, and transplanting them
when needed.
While all of the students work hard to get the plants ready for the
sale, a small group works especially hard. This group is the
greenhouse managers. The 2023-2024 group of greenhouse managers for
Olympia are Kaitlynn Whitecotton, Kylie Britt, Trista Davis and
Mallory Miller.
Along with the individual plants, the FFA is selling yard art signs,
and metal planters. These items were created with the chapter’s CNC
plasma cutting table. If you would like to order a yard decoration
or any sign please contact the high school (309)379-5911 and ask for
Mr.
Hoffman or email -
bryce.hoffman@
olympia.org.
All proceeds from the plant sale benefit the Olympia High School FFA
Chapter.
