[August 02, 2024]  BROADWELL - Francis N. Schreiner, 87, of Broadwell passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024 at the St. Clara's Rehab and Senior Care Center in Lincoln.

Visitation:  Monday evening August 5, 2024 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhart

Rosary:  4 p.m. Monday at the church

Second Visitation: Tuesday, August 6, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church

Mass of Christian Burial Service:  10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church

Funeral home: Peasley Funeral Home, Lincoln     

Obituary

Francis N. Schreiner, 87, of Broadwell passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024 at St. Clara’s Rehab and Senior Care Center in Lincoln.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhart with Rev. Joseph Dondanville officiating.

Visitation will be held on Monday evening August 5, 2024 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhart, with a Rosary service held at 4:00 pm.
Additional visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lincoln.

Francis Nelson Schreiner was born on January 13, 1937 in Norborne, Missouri, the son of Edward Anthony and Anna Marie (Boland) Schreiner. He was united in marriage to Claire Elaine Leininger on November 25, 1961. She preceded him in death on January 4, 1999.

He is survived by his children: Stephen (Pamela) Schreiner, Mark (Katheryn) Schreiner and Michelle (Michael) May. Seven grandchildren: Matthew (Sasha) Schreiner, Katrina (Joshua) Mayes, Garrett Schreiner, Patrick (Elisabeth) May, Lucas (Allyson) May, Nicole Schreiner, Anna Claire May. Three great grandchildren: Raylon Schreiner, Layla Schreiner and Kolter Mayes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters: Rosemary Dobson, Angela Davis, and. Two brothers: Charles Schreiner and Bernard Schreiner.

Francis graduated from Lexington High School in Missouri before serving in the United States Army. He then farmed in Broadwell township from the age of 16 until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where he served as a Trustee. He also served on the Broadwell Grade School Board, the Broadwell Fire Department and as a Broadwell Township Trustee. He was a member of the Logan County Farm Bureau, Logan County Extension and Rural Youth Group. It was through Rural Youth that he met the love of his life, Claire, and decided to make Illinois his permanent home.

Memorials can be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Logan County 4-H Foundation or Logan County Fair Association.
