On Wednesday, July 31st, the Department O
Culinary judging was held at the Logan County Fair. Beginning at 10
a.m., the judging went into the early evening. The judge, Rose
Harrold, tasted small pieces of each of the entries. The total
number of entries this year was 582, higher than it has been the
last two years.
|
The
judging was organized by co-superintendents Marcia Greenslate and
Janet Estill. Linda McCuan was in charge of marking the placings for
each winner as well as writing their names on the winner card. Ron
Estill, sitting next to McCuan, was in charge of attaching a ribbon
to each of the winning baked goods and announcing the winners to the
crowd. Sarah Dahmm, Olivia Wrage, and Sophia Cook each helped get
new baked goods prepared for Harrold to taste as well as put the
tasted goods away.
While a brief break was taken around 12:30 p.m., everyone did a
great job keeping the event organized. By the end of the day,
everyone was exhausted, especially Harrold, having tried hundreds
upon hundreds of entries.
