Grainland Farmer’s recognizes
board members for years of service

Friday, August 2, Grainland Farmer’s in Emden held on
open house to recognize three men for their many years of service on
the elevator board. Together the three men served the board for over
76 years.
Grainland Farmer’s started as an Emden/Minier Cooperative and then
became Grainland Cooperative before being renamed Grainland
Farmer’s.
Emden resident Tom Alberts served 36 years on the
elevator board.

Emden resident and semi-retired farmer Jim Klokkenga
served 20 years on the elevator board.
Jonathan Schertz, who is deceased, was recognized for over 20 years
of service on the board.
Alberts and Klokkenga received plaques noting their years of
service. Emden is fortunate to have such dedicated people on their
elevator board.
