[August 27, 2024]   For the fourth year, the Lincoln Arts Institute sponsored an art fair in conjunction with Balloons Over 66 weekend.

Artisans from around the area set up displays of original art for purchase along Broadway Street of the courthouse square featuring glasswork, painting, drawing, woodworking, jewelry, and crochet. The Lincoln Arts Institute gallery was also open Friday evening and Saturday for art patrons to enjoy.

Artist Andrea Folkman, owner and creator of Gigi’s Craft Shoppe, set up her unique jewelry and accessories at Balloons Over 66 weekend for the first time this year. Folkman is from Mt. Pulaski and saw the Lincoln Arts Institute’s application for the art fair on social media. She does not have a brick and mortar establishment, so appreciates a local opportunity to showcase her creations. She said, “We love seeing small businesses coming out and we appreciate community support.” Folkman reported that there was “a low turnout, but still good.” She took advantage of slower moments and help from her offspring to visit other artisans at their booths. “The kids like seeing the stickers and the henna tattoos and exploring other creative works,” she stated.

The art fair was made possible by sponsorship from local businesses in addition to the Lincoln Arts Institute including Holland, Barry, and Bennett Funeral Home, ME Realty, Heartland Community College, Graue, Inc., Eaton, Lincoln Economic Advancement and Development, the County of Logan, and State Farm/Derron Powell. The art fair opened on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and continued on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
