Obituary
Elsie Winchell, 87, of Lincoln passed
away on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at St. Clara’s
Rehab and Senior Care.
Elsie was born August 31, 1936, in Golconda, IL, the
daughter of James Arlie and Lela Chloe (Robinson)
Stephens. She married Doyle Winchell on February 6,
1960, in Atlanta. He preceded her in death in 2018.
Elsie is survived by her daughters, Mary (Jim
Kirkpatrick) Blain and Tammy (Tom) Haferkamp; five
grandchildren, Jeremiah (Rachel) Koester, Benjamin
(Jessica) Koester, Jordan (Ashley) Blain, Macie
(James) Monroe, and Moriah Blain; six
great-grandchildren, Judah, Rebecca, Raiden, Greyson,
Malakai, and Truett; and her sister, Shirley
Williams.

She was preceded in death by her
parents, husband, Doyle; infant son, Todd Winchell;
grandson, Nathaniel Koester; and her siblings, Marie
Hunter, Dorothy Lang, Sidney Stephens, and Essie
Usherwood.
A private family service will be held for Elsie.
Burial will take place at Zion Cemetery in Lincoln.
Memorials may be made in Elsie’s name to the
International Federation of Christians and Jews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
