[August 29, 2024]   Corey Seager had four hits, including a go-ahead RBI single in the ninth inning, and Wyatt Langford smacked a three-run home run to lift the visiting Texas Rangers to a 4-3 victory over the skidding Chicago White Sox on Wednesday.

Texas endured high drama to earn the win. Rangers left fielder Travis Jankowski went over the wall to rob Andrew Vaughn of a potential game-ending, three-run home run for the second out of the ninth.

Andrew Chafin followed with a walk to Gavin Sheets. That loaded the bases for Lenyn Sosa, who flied out to center field against Grant Anderson to end the game.

Texas earned two victories in one day while improving to 6-0 against Chicago this season. Seager contributed six hits and two RBIs in both games Wednesday.

A two-run seventh inning helped the Rangers earn a 3-1 win earlier Wednesday in the resumption of a game suspended due to rain the night before.

The White Sox have lost six in a row, 10 of 11 and 103 overall. Chicago must win 12 of its remaining 28 games to avoid matching the 1962 New York Mets' modern major league record for most losses in a season (120).

Chicago stranded 12 runners while going 2-for-13 with men in scoring position. A potential seventh-inning rally fizzled when Sosa was called for batter interference on a popup to the catcher with two on and two outs.

Andrew Benintendi, Dominic Fletcher and Sheets had two hits each for Chicago.

Anderson notched his first career save. Jose Urena (5-8) picked up the win with four innings of two-hit relief.

Chicago capitalized on a walk and catcher's interference call to open the game, as Benintendi delivered a two-run, first-inning double to start the scoring.

The Rangers took the lead in the fourth against Sammy Peralta, the second of five White Sox relievers to collaborate on a bullpen game. Langford followed a single and fielder's choice with a three-run home run.

Rangers rookie right-hander Jack Leiter took a no-decision in his fourth career start. Leiter gave up three runs (two earned) and six hits in four-plus innings.

Leiter walked two and struck out four. He led 3-2 entering the fifth but allowed the first two batters to reach base before being pulled for Urena, who allowed a game-tying RBI single to Sosa later in the inning.

Justin Anderson (1-1) took the loss, allowing one run in 1 1/3 innings.
