Central Illinois Foodbank, distributed food to over 120 households Aug. 28 at the Oasis Senior Center in a walk-up distribution.
A line of over 40 individuals and families formed before the distribution began at 1 p.m.

Neighbors laughed, smiled and echoed thank you’s to volunteers as they filled bags and carts with dairy, ground beef, potatoes, chicken broth and bell peppers.

Karleen Langhein, food acquisition manager at Central Illinois Foodbank, expressed her joy for the distribution.

"It's heartwarming to see people of all ages come together at a distribution,” Langhein said. “I love the walk-up style, where neighbors can choose what they need and have a variety of options, but we are also able to engage with the community and have meaningful conversations with our neighbors which is truly rewarding.”

Langhein also expressed her appreciation for the Oasis Senior Center.

“A big thank you to Oasis Senior Center for not only hosting us but also for reaching out to and connecting with neighbors in the area – your support makes all the difference,” Langhein said.
