[August 26, 2024]  MASON CITY — Carolyn “Jane” Pottorf, 90, of Mason City passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024 at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.

Visitation: Friday, August 30, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City

Service: 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home

Obituary

Carolyn “Jane” Pottorf, 90, of Mason City passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024 at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln. She was born on December 2, 1933 in Easton to Howard and Bird (Bonham) Corbin. On August 14, 1955 in Easton, she married Richard “Zeke” Pottorf who preceded her in death in 2009.

Jane is survived by 2 children: Pam (Rod) Conklen of Hartsburg and Howard Pottorf of Tipp City, Ohio, 4 grandchildren: Sara (Brian) Boerma, Katie (Taylor Ferrill) Conklen, Olivea (Ben Folkens) Pottorf, Lucas Pottorf, and 5 great-grandchildren: William, Emma and Ruby Boerma and Zeke and Stetson Ferrill. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and 3 infant grandchildren.

Jane earned her bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and went on to work for over 40 years as a schoolteacher at Easton schools and then Illini Central in Mason City. She was proud to be born and live on the family farm south of Teheran for many years. She was a member of the Easton Methodist Church. Jane enjoyed spending 2 weeks in Minnesota every year. Her favorite activity was time spent with her kids, grandkids and great-grandchildren as they affectionately called her Grandma Jane and GG.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, Pastor Dawn Bevan will officiate, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM and going until the time of service at 11:00 AM, burial to follow at Mason City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Easton United Methodist Church or Donor’s Choice. Online condolences can be left at www.hurleyfh.com.
