							Obituary
							Lavaughn Allene Cotterell Clementz,
88, of Mt. Pulaski, entered her heavenly home on
Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Vonderlieth Living
							Center.
Services for Lavaughn will be held on Saturday,
November 30, 2024, at Peasley Funeral Home in
Lincoln. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and run
until funeral services begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
Steve Lobb officiating. Burial will follow at
							Steenbergen Cemetery in Mt. Pulaski.

Lavaughn was born on February 26, 1936, to James
“Ralph” and Melva Hasler Cotterell, the second of
four daughters, in Richland County, IL. Lavaughn was
a 1954 graduate of Fisher High School and attended
Illinois State University. On September 1, 1956, she
married Martin E. Clementz. They have enjoyed a
loving 68-year marriage. While the first 15 years of
marriage were spent living in northern Illinois,
they moved to rural Chestnut in 1971 and have called
							Logan County home since then.

Lavaughn is survived by her husband, Marty; and
their five children: Cindy (David) Stoll of
Chestnut, Carla Beverly of Glenarm, Marty
(Christina) Clementz of Mt. Pulaski, Tammy (Troy)
Yard of Sherman, and Lynn (Brett) Flach of
Harrodsburg, KY. She was the proud grandmother to
nine grandchildren: Matthew (Jennifer) Stoll of Mt.
Pulaski; Michael Stoll of Sherman; Lauren (Zack)
Zimmermann of Livingston, MT; Tanner (Erin) Clementz
of St. Peter, MN; Miranda (Colin) Ryan of
Ridgecrest, CA; Jake (Julie) Yard of Sherman; Taylor
(Eric) Robb, Bryce (Madison) Flach; and Blain Flach
all of Harrodsburg, KY, and nine great
							grandchildren: Madison, Wyatt, Talia, Colton,
Thomas, Lucas, Madelynn, Brock, and Lakelynn. Also
surviving are her sister and brother-in-law Delores
and Duane Beasley of Lincoln, brother-in-law Delmar
Huff of Mahomet, and several nieces and nephews.

Lavaughn was preceded in death by her
							parents, son-in-law Thomas Beverly,
							great-granddaughter Brylee Robb, sister and
brother-in-law Lois and Harry Huffman, sister Nadine
Huff, and her special aunt Thelma Hasler.
							Lavaughn was a stay-at-home mother
until her youngest child reached middle-school age,
then she served as the head cook at the Mt. Pulaski
High School during the 1980s through the mid-1990s
before retiring. While her children were growing up,
Lavaughn served as a leader of the Wo-He-Lo 4-H club
for many years. She could be found at all the fairs,
sporting events, band concerts, scholastic bowl
meets, and any other “thing” her children,
							grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participated
in. She was certainly their biggest supporter! She
was a member of the Chestnut United Methodist
Church, serving in many roles, until the church
closed. Then she attended the Mt. Pulaski United
							Methodist Church.
Marty and the “kids” would like to send a heartfelt
thank you to the staff of Vonderlieth Living Center
for the respect, kindness, and love that Lavaughn
received while there. The family never had any
							worries about her care.

Memorial donations may be made in Lavaughn’s name
to: Chestnut-Beason Park District or the Henry and
							Jane Vonderlieth Foundation.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Peasley
							Funeral Home of Lincoln.
