							Obituary 
							Raymond L. “Huey” Jones, 77, of rural 
							Atlanta passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024 
							at his home.
 A Celebration of Huey’s life will be held on Friday, 
							November 29, 2024 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. at 
							the Lincoln American Legion Post 263 1740 5th Street 
							Lincoln, Illinois.
 
 Burial will be at a later date at Zion Cemetery in 
							Lincoln, Illinois
 
 Raymond Lee Jones was born on September 8, 1947 in 
							Springfield the son of Paul Leo and Lois Eileen 
							Huser Jones. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Kay 
							Martin on May 20, 1978. She survives.
 
 Also surviving are his children: Amy Martin, Tad 
							(Kendall) Martin and Robin (Joe) Cook. Nine 
							grandchildren: Marty Ryan, Andrew (Anna) Ryan, Emily 
							(Mark) Dunham, Ellie Martin, Elliot Cook, Carley 
							Martin, Lily Cook, George Martin, Owen Cook. Three 
							great grandchildren: Dylan Ryan, Althea Dunham, Ava 
							Kay Ryan.
 
 He was preceded in death by his parents.
 
 Huey graduated from the Lincoln Community High 
							School and then attended Lincoln College and 
							University of Illinois- Chicago He served in the U. 
							S. Army from 1968 -1970 with one tour in Vietnam in 
							the 4th Infantry Division, earning a Purple Heart.

							He retired from Ameren Cilco after 30 
							years of service. 
							Huey found joy in the simple 
							pleasures of life, He loved relaxing by the pond 
							with family, listening to Pink Floyd and reminiscing 
							with his army brothers. He was also passionate about 
							the outdoors, often indulging in admiring wildlife 
							and its tranquility. Huey cherished the 
							companionship of his beloved pets over the years. 
							Most of all he loved his family.
 The family would also like to give special thanks to 
							his caregivers.
 
 Memorials may be made to the Marine Corp Detachment 
							1336 or Hope on 5th in Lincoln.
