[December 06, 2024]   When it comes to Christmas presents, clothes, toys and even gift cards are often popular, but with so many choices, finding gifts can tend to feel overwhelming. Fortunately, several people have come up with lists of trendy items that are both practical and special.

In the article, “Sleigh Your Shopping List With the 60 Best Christmas Gifts of 2024,” Joni Sweet, Micki Wagner, Taylor Giangregorio provide ideas of trendy gifts for everyone on your list.

For those who like hot drinks, there is Smart Mug 2. This mug helps people “maintain their preferred sipping temperature (up to 145 degrees Fahrenheit), so they don't have to keep running to the microwave every so often to heat up lukewarm java.”

Those who like to eat ice cream all year may enjoy the Ninja CREAMi Ice Cream Maker, which Sweet, Wagner and Giangregorio say is “easy-to-use” and makes “smooth ice cream along with gelato, smoothie bowls, milkshakes, and more.”

Some people get too warm no matter what the weather is like. A good gift for them may be a battery operated wearable neck fan. In “The 36 Most Popular Gifts of 2024” Alyssa Gautieri says, this fan has “three speeds and can provide up to 16 hours of battery life on a single charge.”

Parents whose children participate in sports sometimes have to watch them play in less than ideal weather. For them, “MyPod 1-Person Pop-up Weather Pod” would be a good gift since it “pops open on demand to give you a space to stay warm and dry in bad weather.” In the summer, it can keep you out of the hot sun while also offering “UPF 50 sun protection.”

Shopping for teens can be challenging because they can be hard to impress.

For the teens on your list, Alyssa Guatieri has come up with “60 Best Gifts for Teens That'll Make You Look Cool.” Guatieri looked at online reviews and social media for items that are best sellers in addition to talking to Good Housekeeping experts.

To keep teens warm, there are oversized blanket hoodies. Though they are nice for lounging around the house, they also look nice enough to wear in public.

Since teens use their phone so much, a good charger is a must have. A Bluetooth charging speaker can “charge their phone without any messy wires” and at the same time “blast their favorite tunes and answer calls.”

Teens who are always on the go would also benefit from having a magnetic power bank. The power bank is a portable wireless phone charger with a USB-C cable making it easy to use when they are out and about.

When they use the Money Soap Bar, not only will the teens smell good, but they will also get money. As they use the cucumber and fresh mint bar, Guatieri says “they’ll eventually find cash inside” with bills anywhere from “$5 to $100.”

The teen who enjoys drawing may enjoy the 3D printing pen. Guatieri says, “this pen lets them take their artwork off the page, churning out 3D animals, flowers, vehicles and anything they can dream up.”

Younger children can be easier to shop for with a variety of toys that appeal to children’s interests.

Quincy Bulin provides of list of popular toys for children in his article “Walmart Revealed Its Top Toys of 2024—These Are the 50 Best, and They Start at Just $3.”

For toddlers, there is the VTech Sort & Discover Activity Wagon, which they can push and pull. On the wagon, “each side contains activities like shape sorting, gear spinners, activity keys, mazes, peek-a-boo doors and more.”

To help bring books to life for toddlers, the Little Tikes Dream Machine Starter Set is a popular toy. With the Dream Machine, toddlers can “watch, listen, and read along to stories like The Poky Little Puppy, as they shine bright on the wall.” Sound effects and light also bring the stories to life.

In our technology driven society, elementary school children sometimes have STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) classes with interactive learning experiences that integrate various subjects.

As Bulin says, “STEAM toys go beyond entertainment and teach kids vital subjects.” The toy’s description says you can “bring engineering to life with the new Melissa & Doug Blockables Building Sets or pretend to be chemistry whizzes with the Mr. Beast Lab Mutators Gold Panther Action Figure.”

Those who enjoy STEAM activities may also like Artie 3,000. Sweet, Wagner and Giangregorio describe Artie 3,000 as a “STEM toy that can draw whatever you code on a piece of paper. It offers pre-programmed drag-and-drop code options for beginners, plus advanced apps that'll help children expand their knowledge as their skills grow.” The Artie 3,000 robot comes with “four washable markers and activity cards” with various options.

Lower tech toys like Legos are a good choice for little builders. Though Legos have been around for many years, with so many different sets to choose from, they continue to be popular.

Another good learning toy is the Creativity for Kids Grow N’ Glow Terrarium. Kids can plant, water and grow their own terrarium tabletop garden. The jar even has decorative stickers that can be placed on it, so it lights up at night.

Kids who like playing with sand and pretending to bake might enjoy Little Tikes Creative Chefs Baker’s Kit with Make-It Mix Play Sand. With mixing bowls and muffin tins, they can make cupcakes out of sand.

Sometimes children just want to cuddle up with a stuffed oy. For those children, look for Squishmallows, which come in various shapes and sizes. Not only are there Squishmallows that look like animals, but some look like well-loved characters from television, movies and video games.

For kids who like to play with dolls, Barbie and accessories for her continue to be a popular draw as new releases come out every year.

The ones who enjoy playing with action figures may enjoy Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Ultimate Talking Action Figure. The twelve-inch figure says over 30 phrases and sounds from the popular Sonic the Hedgehog movies.

Knowing what gifts are popular may make your Christmas shopping easier. In addition, these trendy gifts are likely to delight the people who find them under the tree.
