Over the weekend, Breakfast with Santa was hosted at the Hartsburg American Legion Hall. This year the overall theme of the event was based on the Polar Express with one of the movie’s most popular characters, the Conductor visiting with the children and handing out tickets to the movie that was being played during the breakfast.

In addition to the breakfast, there was a gigantic bake sale with the proc
eeds going toward the annual Hartsburg Founders Day celebration. The offerings were so enticing that evening the characteristically gruff conductor couldn’t resist picking up a few items.

Vic Hamer has returned to the states from Kenya where he has been overseeing the digging of water wells in distressed areas in that country.

While he is here, the Emden native is raising funds for his next well which will be dedicated in memory of his parents Fredrick and Carlynn Hamer. Many will remember the Hamers. Carlynn was a teacher at Hartsburg-Emden School for 35 years, while her husband Fredrick was in fuel sales providing products to local farmers and other customers.

While visiting Lincoln, Vic Hamer stopped in at Lincoln Printers to pick up the sign that will placed at the next well which is expected to be completed in January 2025.

If you would like to make a donation in memory of Fredrick and Carlynn Hamer, email Vic at vichamer@gmail.com or visit the website “Give Me Water Lord.”
