Inside Hartsburg’s Legion Hall, Hartsburg Mayor Norma
Bathe and others who are part of the Hartsburg Founder’s Day
committee served a pancake and sausage breakfast.
The breakfast was a fundraiser for Hartsburg Founder’s Day
celebrating the founding of the town. People were visiting with
friends and eating a delicious breakfast. They could also purchase a
package of sausage to take home.
Tables were set up with delectable bake sale items
such as a variety of cookies, peanut brittle, caramel corn, banana
bread and zucchini bread. Some purchased these items to take them to
upcoming holiday events. The money raised from the bake sale will
also help with the cost of the Founder’s day.
On another table were Bomba socks for anyone to take with them as a
special gift. These were donated by Ability Sports of Havana.
Christmas lanterns, large candy canes and other
holiday decor were for sale in another area. There were Christmas
pictures kids could color too.

A “Polar Express” conductor was handing out golden
tickets to children who were excited to see Santa. The Polar Express
movie played in the background as everyone ate and visited.
When children made their way over to the corner where
Santa and Mrs. Claus sat, they redeemed their ticket for a chance to
sit on Santa’s lap. He and Mrs. Claus were ready to greet the
children and see what they wanted for Christmas. Many children, a
few parents and even the Hartem boys basketball team posed with
Santa for photos.
The breakfast lasted until 11 a.m. with many families coming to eat
breakfast and to see Santa.
Throughout the morning, many came to the Legion to enjoy breakfast,
buy baked goods or crafts and visit Santa.
