[February 01, 2024]  LINCOLN - Gordon P. “Doc” Josserand, 83, of Lincoln, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Service:  Private family services will be held at New Union Cemetery.

Gordon P. “Doc” Josserand, 83, of Lincoln, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Gordon was born December 27,1940, in Moline, the son of Louis and Marguerite Josserand. He married Sharon (Matheny) Wilmert on January 23, 1988, in Lincoln.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Sharon; stepchildren, Richard “Rick” (Susie) Wilmert, Kenneth “Ken” (Theresa) Wilmert Jr., and Tina (David) Fogal; 11 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, his sister Carol Barth; one niece and one nephew; and his loving dog and companion, Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Nicholas “Nick” Wilmert; step-grandson, Mark Davis; and his granddaughter, Kayleigh Wilmert.

Doc worked at Boss Drugs Store in Lincoln and then later Lincoln Developmental Center as a pharmacist for many years. He was awarded the Courier Citizen of the Year, he loved to travel and was an avid sports fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. Doc enjoyed animals, loved kids and supported children through the Christian Children Fund and Christian International.

He also worked the chains at Lincoln Community High School football games, officiated basketball, and coached baseball for many years. Most of all Doc loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Private family services will be held at New Union Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Doc’s name to The Humane Society of Logan County.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
